Our hand crafted rugs are meticulously hooked, woven and tufted by skilled artisans with the power to transform an ordinary space into something spectacular. Created in northeastern India by local weavers, these intricate rugs provide a livelihood to villagers, particularly women who have been traditionally excluded from opportunities in India's workforce. The elaborate process takes several artisans to complete, beginning with patterns that are hand traced and colored. Dependent on which highly detailed construction is chosen for a rug design, it can take anywhere from one week to over six months to complete one of these expertly crafted masterpieces.

A portion of the profits from these rugs and pillows goes towards a school lunch program that serves fresh, nutritious daily meals to 1.3 million children in rural India. For many children, this is their only substantial meal of the day. Additional donations are also made to a scholarship program that enhances literacy and learning in Southeast Asia. Nearly 80 percent of children from impoverished families drop out before graduation due to the burden of educational fees, books and uniforms. This program helps compensate for all school expenses in addition to mandating and paying for after-school tutoring for students most in need.

much nicer than expected

I was scared to order this rug because there were no reviews, so I figured I'd better write a review for anyone else on the fence. :-) I got this amazingly fast, like within 2 days of ordering. I bought this for the design shown (light background with black pattern) and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was reversible. BUT ... I doubt I would use the reverse side (black background with light pattern) because the weave is thin so the black does not look "solid" if you know what I mean. It is in indoor/outdoor rug which I bought for use under my dining room table for easy cleanup. I love the way it looks and it cleans up easily. It is definitely soft enough for indoors but also definitely not plush, either. The pattern is a larger scale but doesn't look overwhelming. One of my big concerns was the background color ... it seems all the beige-y colors out there have yellow undertones and my walls are a light brown with NO yellow undertones, so I was really worried that the light color would end up being that almost orange-y beige. I was so relieved to see that it goes great with my walls, it does not look orangey/yellow. Also, even though I had measured beforehand, I was amazed at how absolutely huge this rug was. It was an awesome value for the money and I'm so glad I bought it even if there were no reviews. :-)

I'm very happy with this rug! The pattern and color are true to the picture that is shown online. And the best part is that it's reversible so that when it starts looking dingy and stained in a few years, I can turn it over and extend it's use!

Exactly what I wanted!!!

I bought this rug for my boys bathroom. It is going in front of their sink. It will be mostly for looks and to shield their feet from the cold tile floor. This rug is even cuter in person and I am extremely pleased. The shipping was quick and free so no complains here. :)

Exactly what I wanted!!!

I bought this rug for my boys bathroom. It is going in front of their sink. It will be mostly for looks and to shield their feet from the cold tile floor. This rug is even cuter in person and I am extremely pleased. The shipping was quick and free so no complains here. :)
